FAFSA Instructions
Read each section carefully before filing your FAFSA application.
You will need to add our school code when completing your FAFSA, MPN/Entrance Counseling to attend our program. SCHOOL CODE: 042048
If you have never applied for federal student aid, you will first need to create an FSA ID. The username and password created with your FSA ID will be your log in information to complete several documents throughout the enrollment process. You should save this information somewhere where it can be easily accessed if needed.
Click on “RESOURCE CENTER” at the top of page to locate a direct link to create your FSA ID.
NOTE: Any additional person added to your FAFSA application who is required to include their financial/tax information, must also create an FSA ID. (Example: Parent/Spouse etc.…)
When completing your FAFSA, you will be asked if you were born before a certain date:
Example: January 01, 2001
If your answer is “No”, you are considered a “dependent” student according to the Federal Student Aid guidelines. This means that parent information MUST BE included on your FAFSA. If you submit your FAFSA without including this required information, it will be processed as incomplete. Parents are also required to create an FSA ID and will use their log in information to sign the FAFSA. A parent signature is also a requirement to complete a dependent student FAFSA. An electronic signature is added to the FAFSA by entering the FSA ID and Password of person signing the application.
To attend our program and receive any eligible federal student aid funds, our school code must be added to your FAFSA.
School Code: 042048
You are given the option to use the “IRS Data Retrieval Tool” when entering financial information. This tool will transfer your taxes directly from the IRS to your FAFSA. We recommend using this tool when able, to ensure accuracy. Financial information accidentally mistyped manually, could possibly result in additional requested documentation and a delay in starting school.
The American College of Barbering is a clock hour program. The completion of the program is based on the amount of hours clocked instead of credits. Because of this, when applying for financial aid to begin school, you are considered a "First Year Undergraduate (freshman)". Regardless if you attended college for a period of time elsewhere. Please answer the following question accordingly.
QUESTION:
“When the student begins (the current award year) school year, what will their college grade level be?”
ANSWER:
· First Year Undergraduate (freshman)
QUESTION:
When the student begins the (current award year) school year, will they already have their first bachelors degree?
You should only answer "yes" to this question if you have graduated school and obtained a bachelors degree.
Occasionally the Department of Education may request additional documentation to determine eligibility when applying for federal student aid. Each award year, a percentage of applications are randomly selected for verification. If chosen, you may possibly be asked to provide a “Tax Return Transcript” of the tax year you entered on the FAFSA application. We suggest that you order these ahead of time so that you have them on hand if selected. These can be obtained free of charge by searching “Order my Transcript” in browser or by clicking “RESOURCE CENTER” at the top of page. You have the choice to order them by mail or online. You can receive your transcripts almost immediately using the online method by answering a few security questions to confirm your identity. Choosing to order them by mail can sometimes take up to 3 weeks to receive.
It is extremely important to obtain the requested documentation and submit/notify the school as quickly as possible. The Financial Aid Office will need to download documents for your financial aid file and send it to verification for approval. After we receive the requested document, it is sent to verification for approval. Once approved, your FAFSA application is cleared to receive the awarded amount of financial aid. This process time can vary depending on what is requested for verification and can possibly delay starting classes if not completed in a timely manner.

To make corrections, log in to the FAFSA website and make sure to choose the correct award year applications. There will be an options to make corrections.
When making corrections to your FAFSA, make sure you “submit” your corrections. Saving the information only saves your current progress so you can continue the correction later. Submitted corrections usually take 24-48 hours to process. Make sure all corrections needed are made before submitting.
