The mission of American College of Barbering is to provide the highest quality of education and training to help meet the needs of our community while enabling students to achieve personal and professional goals and ultimately find gainful employment in the career of Barbering. The school keeps a professional atmosphere in which an experienced and dedicated staff encourages students’ personal and practical skills. The school does not use erroneous, deceptive, or misleading practices.
In harmony with its mission, American College of Barbering has established the following expectations:
It is expected that all American College of Barbering students are enrolled for serious educational pursuits and that they will conduct themselves to preserve an appropriate atmosphere of positive learning. It is also expected that all students who enroll are willing to assume the responsibilities of citizenship within the student body. While enrolled, students are subject to school policies, rules and regulations that include the prerogative of dismissing those whose conduct is unfavorable to the aim of an institution of higher education.
Instructors and administration are to be given the utmost respect. We are not above mistakes, but everyone deserves to be treated with respect and courtesy. Therefore, any student who directs profanity, name calling, derogatory comments, or any verbal or physical assault toward an instructor or administration member will forfeit their enrollment at American College of Barbering.

DESCRIPTION
The course is designed to build the knowledge and technical skills necessary to meet the high standards of the Barbering field. Course is taught in English.

INSTRUCTIONAL METHOD
Teaching methods implemented by the instructor are demonstration, lecture, question/answer, outside demonstrators, etc.
Financial aid is available for those who qualify from a variety of sources. Applicants will be given information and assistance in filling out all necessary forms when receiving grants and loan awards. A private meeting with the Financial Aid Department will be scheduled after the submission of the Application for Admission.

Those who are eligible meet the following basic requirements:
• Demonstrate financial need.
• Are a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen.
• Have a valid social security number.
• Register with Selective Service if you are a male between 18 and 25 years of age.
• Maintain satisfactory academic progress in college or career school.
• Have a H.S. diploma, GED or have completed a homeschooling program approved by your state.
Here is a list of just some of the possible sources for assistance from Federal, State, Local, and other programs.
There are two types of federal aid available to the American College of Barbering students who qualify:
Grants – financial aid that doesn’t have to be repaid (unless, for example you withdraw from school and owe a refund)
Loans- allow you to borrow money for your education costs which must be repaid, with interest, back to the Federal Government.
REQUIREMENTS
Satisfactory progress is defined as fulfilling what is expected of you as you move towards graduation. This policy is established and maintained for all students attending regardless of funding source, cash, Title IV, etc. All students must maintain an 80% cumulative rate of attendance and 80% cumulative academic rate. The policy complies with the guidelines established by the National Accrediting Commission of Career Arts and Sciences (NACCAS) and the federal regulations established by the United States Department of Education.
EVALUATION PERIODS
SAP is evaluated for the program at the end of each payment period based on actual hours. Evaluations will determine if the student has met the minimum requirements for satisfactory academic progress.

VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION
We also accept vocational rehabilitation as a form of student’s tuition payment. Vocational Rehabilitation offices are located throughout Louisville, KY and the surrounding areas. For more information please visit: http://ovr.ky.gov/programservices/.
The Barber program consists of 1,500 hours of Instruction. Subjects include, haircutting, haircoloring, perms, facials, straight razor shaves, as so much more. Upon completion of the program, the student is qualified to take the state exam. Upon passing the state exam, the student may seek employment as a licensed barber. Further agrees to obey all rules and regulations of the school as stated above, and/or posted in the school and/or as published in the Student Catalog. Failure to do so may result in the suspension or dismissal. All students that complete the program (graduate) will receive a Certificate of Completion and must have a co-signor for the remaining balance of tuition. Any monies 30 days past due of contracted payment date will be turned over to collections with a 30% fee to be applied.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
A student must meet the State minimum age requirement to enter school and must submit the following:
• An application fee of $100.00 must be paid at enrollment appointment. This fee is non-refundable after three (3) days.
• A registration fee of $100.00 (non-refundable after 3-day grace period on contract expires)
• A copy of your high school diploma, transcript showing graduation date, GED or acceptable equivalency. American College of Barbering does not admit Ability-To-Benefit students.
• A copy of a Driver’s License or State/Federal issued identification with photo
• Passport Photo (only)
• Complete an Enrollment Package
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
Upon completion of this course, a graduate could expect to work in an entry-level barbering position in a shop or even be an owner of a shop. With further training and experience, an individual with a barber license can teach barbering, be a demonstrator, hold a sales position related to the barbering field, etc. Students must have completed the required clock hours, must be meeting SAP, passed written and practical final exams (80% grade or better) and have met all financial obligations to the school. Every student MUST pass the school’s Final Tests before taking a board examination. When the contracted time expires, students must make up for absences and pay any monies due for overages.
HOLIDAYS
We observe the following holidays: New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, Oaks Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and the Friday after, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. School closed dates may be added depending on what day of the week the Holiday occurs.
EMPLOYMENT ASSISTANCE
The American College of Barbering does not guarantee employment, however if job placement is available, it will be posted in the student break room. In addition, students enrolled at ACOB will receive information on professionalism, resume development, interview preparation, and job search skills.
