All the requirements below must be completed to be able to receive Federal Student Loans or a Federal Pell Grant to assist in covering tuition. The FAFSA application determines the student’s eligibility amounts when awarded federal student aid. These amounts are determined based on the information provided by the individual completing the FAFSA application. Meaning, the $ amount awarded from federal student aid varies from person to person.
Use the steps below to help guide you through the process. If you have previously applied for federal student aid and already have a FSA ID, proceed to FAFSA application.
NOTE: To attend our program and receive any eligible federal student aid funds, our school code must be added to your FAFSA and other required financial aid documents.
American College of Barbering
School Code: 042048
If you have never applied for federal student aid, you will first need to create an FSA ID. The username and password created with your FSA ID will be your log in information to complete several documents throughout the enrollment process. You should save this information somewhere where it can be easily accessed if needed.
Click on “Resource Center” tab at the top of page to locate a direct link to create your FSA ID.
NOTE: Any additional person added to your FAFSA application who is required to include their financial/tax information, must also create an FSA ID. (Example: Parent/Spouse etc.…)
Log in using the same username and password you created for your FSA ID. Follow the guided instructions to complete the application. If you are unsure how to answer a question, reach out to us, we are happy to help. Double check for any “mistypes” on the application before submitting. It is important that when entering tax information that the amounts are entered correctly, and match the information sent to the IRS when filing your taxes.
Click on “Resource Center” tab at the top of page to locate a direct link to complete the FAFSA application.
Dependency:
Were you born before January 1, 2001?
If your answer is “No”, you are considered a “dependent” student according to the Federal Student Aid guidelines on the 2024 – 2025 FAFSA application. This means that parent information MUST BE included in your FAFSA application. If you submit your FAFSA without including this required information, it will be processed as incomplete. Parents are also required to create an FSA ID and will use their log in information to sign the FAFSA. A parent signature is also a requirement to complete a dependent student FAFSA.
Once the school has received your FAFSA, it will be reviewed for eligibility. This process usually takes anywhere from 24 to 48hrs from when your FAFSA was submitted, but it could take up to 72hrs. Reviewing your FAFSA application consists of checking for eligibility, any corrections that may need to be made and if any further documents are requested. We will contact you regarding this information.
NOTE: Any additional person added to your FAFSA application who is required to include their financial/tax information, must also create an FSA ID. (Example: Parent/Spouse etc....)
Occasionally the Department of Education may request additional documentation to determine eligibility when applying for federal student aid. Each award year, a percentage of applications are randomly selected for verification. If chosen, you may possibly be asked to provide a “Tax Return Transcript” of the tax year you entered on the FAFSA application. We suggest that you order these ahead of time so that you have them on hand if selected. These can be obtained free of charge by searching “Order my Transcript” in browser or by clicking link in our enrollment website “RESOURCE LINKS”. You have the choice to order them by mail or online. You can receive your transcripts almost immediately using the online method by creating an account and answering a few security questions to confirm your identity. Choosing to order them by mail can sometimes take up to 3 weeks to receive.
It is extremely important to obtain the requested documentation and submit/notify the school as quickly as possible. The Financial Aid Office will need to download documents for your financial aid file and send it to verification for approval. After we receive the requested document, it is sent to verification for approval. Once approved, your FAFSA application is cleared to receive the awarded amount of financial aid. This process time can vary depending on what is requested for verification and can possibly delay starting classes if not completed in a timely manner.
